In the forefront of powertrain development, de-NOx technology for the conversion of harmful NOx to harmless N2 is a key area for researchers today. This is where HORIBA' s new MEXA-1170NX analyzer leads the way. It is the ideal tool for measuring NH3 in the development of various NOx reduction technologies such as selective catalytic reduction ( SCR) , Lean NOx Traps ( LNT) and three way catalysts. It measures NH3 in real time with high sensitivity using twin chemiluminescence ( CLD) detectors with an NH3 oxidizing oven. In addition to standalone measurement of NH3, NO and NOx, it can be integrated as an additional analyzer with the MEXA-7000 series.

By means of two heated-type chemiluminescence ( CLD) detectors with anNH3 oxidizing oven, either NH3 or NO2 can be measured with high sensitivity in real time by calculation of the difference of NO readings from two detectors ( one without a converter) . The MEXA-1170NX can measure NH3 and NOx, or ( optionally) NO2, NO and NOx. Remote operation from MEXA-7000. The MEXA-1170NX can be used either as a standalone NH3 analyser or integrated, via the MCU, into a MEXA-7000 system for remote control and monitoring.
