The growing complexity of modern powertrains inevitably leads to an increased need for component testing in a real-world environment at an early stage in the development process. This is even more so in the case of electrified powertrains, where all individual components of the power electronics have a significant influence on each other and therefore need to be tested individually, in a virtual environment. For drive inverters as well as for charging equipment, the components have to be optimized in term of performance, efficiency, reliability and durability.
The AVL Power Electronics Testbeds provides a comprehensive environment that can cover the entire component development process. Thanks to a large product portfolio, our scope of delivery is adapted to the test complexity, according to the customer' s requirements.
Our system flexibility makes it possible to operate all power electronics types for all powertrain configurations - from start-stop, mild and full hybrid, through to pure electric vehicles – thus for a broad range of applications such as hardware and software development, endurance testing and fault simulation etc.
Our component testing solutions can also be integrated into larger " multipurpose testbeds" , enabling the system integration of several components, such as the battery, the inverter, the charging equipment and even the real e-motor.
